This was a somewhat difficult read, and I’m not 100% sure why. I enjoyed the world she’s built, it’s a nice soft-sf/fantasy mix, with a lot of human bullshit in the mix.

Maybe too much human bullshit. Maybe that was the problem. I kept putting it down at upsetting bits.

Some of the people who needed to die died, but not enough of them. And some who shouldn’t have did.

It ended a little abruptly, which is excusable as the setup for a trilogy.

I need the next book, or I’m probably gonna be upset about this one.
